Caring and Sharing

Description/Responsibilities: Raise awareness of the needs of those suffering economic distress and financial hardship in our local and larger communities. Provide means for parishioners to become active participants in reaching out to the needy and elderly. Examples are our annual Thanksgiving food drive, Advent Giving Tree, our Easter Basket outreach for children, Cookies at Christmas and flowers at Eastertime for shut ins.

Objectives: To be a blessing to those in need by reaching out to them in love and compassion. To raise funds for our Pastor's Fund for the Poor. These funds enable him to buy Tops gift cards, and contribute to worthy causes. To assure the elderly that they are not forgotten and they will always be an important part of our faith community.

Events: Annual fundraising event: Ice Cream Social/Theme Basket Raffle. Publicity of the plight of those in need through the weekly bulletin, or direct contact with potential benefactors.

Meetings: Only meetings are with Ice Cream Social Committee members concerning that particular event. We also work with the Dept. of Faith Formation in gathering basket gifts for the Auction . Faith Formation students and others are welcome to assist at our gift sorting and food sorting events and are an important part of our Auction. All other communication is through Fr. Damian or the weekly bulletin. Persons actively participating are always welcome.

Contact Person: Jan Corda in the rectory office.
